A few acrylic beginner mistakes to avoid

❌ Buying based on colour alone

A gorgeous colour isn't much use if the sheet isn't suitable for your equipment.

Always check the material specifications first.

❌ Assuming all plastic is laser-safe

It isn't.

Know exactly what you're cutting before it goes into your laser.

❌ Assuming every acrylic cuts the same

Different brands, colours, finishes and thicknesses can behave differently.

Your laser settings may need adjusting.

❌ Skipping the test cut

Testing first can save you from ruining an entire sheet.

Especially when you're trying a new colour, finish or thickness.

❌ Forgetting which side is which

Some sheets have different finishes on each side.

Check before you cut.

❌ Buying too much too soon

It's tempting when you discover all the colours and finishes available!

Start small, experiment and work out what you love using before building a huge acrylic stash.
